Happy National Best Friends Day!

In case you haven’t noticed yet… today is National Best Friends Day! Take time today to call, message, text, tweet, Facetime, send smoke signals, a pigeon with a note… whatever you need to do, do it!

How important are best friends?

Think about the last time you had a problem or something really great happened. Who did you turn to? I’m guessing your boyfriend, husband or significant other probably reacted in a way that left you a little disappointed. Let me make it clear – I LOVE my husband, but he isn’t always the best at celebrating or giving me support without the unsolicited advice! (Can I get an amen?)

Your besties are the ones you can go to for help with no judgement, help and definitely tears/laughter – whichever the occasion calls for. Reach out and tell them how much you love them and how happy you are to have them!

Here are a few fun ways to celebrate the day, whether you’re in the same town or far away! (The rhyming on that was a bonus – free of charge. You’re welcome.)

  • Set up a time to call or video chat! If you’re in the same location, set up a dinner or lunch date. If you’re not, (several of my besties are sprinkled all around!) – then set up a time to chat! It sounds silly to schedule something like this BUT I find that it keeps us on track and avoids the phone tag! People get busy so it helps to have a standing phone date or text to say – “Let’s chat tonight! When are you free?” I always feel ten times better when I’m done talking to my besties! Cost: Free! (If included in your phone plan! Skype is always a good option, too!)
  • Send a text or message! This could be a nice, long text or several funny gifs! Either way, you’re guaranteed to make your bestie smile. Personally, I default to either The Office, Parks & Rec or Bridesmaids gifs. They are the ones that always seem to sum up my feelings! Cost: Free!
  • Write a letter or send a card. Old school? Yep. However, when I receive something hand-written or a card that’s hand-made (hello, Cricut!) it’s a little extra special! It’s something that’s becoming a lost art, and taking the extra time to do it means you really care! Cost: Supplies & a stamp
  • Send a quick gift! Amazon Prime ensures two day delivery on most items… even something simple can show them that you love them! I also love using apps like PostalPixPostalPix – they print out Instagram photos and even include cute ways to hang/display them! Check them out – it’s made great Christmas and birthday presents before!  Cost: Depends on the gift! Just remember, it’s the thought that counts!

How are you going to wish your bestie a happy national best friends day?
