I recently finished “Love Does” by Bob Goff and wow. If there was ever a book to spend your time reading, this is it. Wow.
It’s full of these amazing, short little stories and tales that leave you breathless. Every story just captivated me and left me in tears. We’re talking – can’t catch my breath, smiling and wiping my nose frantically while wondering if my heart could actually burst.
I’m a huge fan of reading, and as much as I hate anything scary, I tend to read fiction, sci-fi, dystopian stuff (think Hunger Games, Divergent…) I have TRIED to read some of the really popular “self-help” titles out there (not sure what genre I would use for books like “Girl, wash your face” – a book I’ve stopped and started more times than I can count.) I started Bob Goff’s devotional book, “Live in Grace, Walk in Love” and was hooked immediately. It is such a lovely way to start the day (or end it, if you wake up to chaos and forget about your devotional until it’s time for bed!) I picked up “Love Does” and I honestly think it’s one of those life-changing books. LIFE. CHANGING.
I have been taking my time the last few chapters, not wanting to end the journey. I finished the book today and it felt like I was closing a chapter (quite literally) I wasn’t ready to quit. I am incredibly excited to start the second book and order the third ASAP.
For those in need of a little motivation, or just wondering how to find Jesus in their life, or how to SHOW others how Jesus loves us, this is THE book. So far, I’ve gifted this to two of my friends and plan on making it my go-to gift. It’s THAT good.
The stories stick with you. The people leave impressions on your life. Heck, just the intro, written by the author’s friend, had my heart expanding. It’s almost like the old “What would Jesus do?” bracelet – what would Jesus do? He would love, and love DOES. Don’t stand still, don’t let (insert whatever it is here!) keep you from loving. Look around – we NEED love. Read this book, pass it along, gift it – your life will be better for it. Thank Jesus for sending us friends like Bob who point us back to a loving Father who wants only the best for us. He wants us to LOVE and know that we are loved. If that’s not amazing… I’m not sure what is.
My heart has softened, and there are areas in my life that I want to improve – and after this book, I feel as though I have a plan. If you’ve read this book, give me your thoughts! Haven’t read it? Grab a copy and let’s talk about it! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
xoxo, Kelly
