It Started With a Little Creative Spark
During COVID, our founder Laurie traded doomscrolling for adult coloring books, then discovered mahjong as a reason to get out and spend time with friends again. She fell for the whole ritual: the tiles, the tablescapes, the creativity, and most of all, the time together around the table. That creative spark became Let’s Be Besties.
Today, we offer hundreds of mahjong mat designs, personalization, custom options, and collaborations through our Artist Collective. Our mats are designed and printed in the United States, with women-led creative and production teams bringing each one from artwork to finished product. We care about the colors, the feel, and how it all comes together when you set out the tiles.
Mahjong is where we started, but making time together feel special has always been the bigger idea. A beautiful table is the invitation. The real gift is the joy shared around it: the game, the conversation, the laughter, and the people who pull up a chair.

Which mahjong mat is right for you?
Choose neoprene for a smooth surface with grip and a stitched edge, or leatherette for a thin, lightly textured feel. Our compact travel mat is another option when you want something smaller to take along.
Neoprene Mahjong Mats
Our neoprene mats are perfect if comfort is your top priority. They give tiles a smooth surface to move across, with enough control to keep play comfortable. A non-slip foundation helps the mat stay in place, while the material softens tile noise and helps protect your tabletop from scratches and wear.
Leatherette Mahjong Mats
Lightweight and ultra-thin, our leatherette mats have a subtle pebbled texture and a low profile on the table. They lay flat for play and roll easily for storage, with a textured back that helps soften the sound of tiles. They're ideal if aesthetics and maintenance are your top priorities.
Travel Mahjong Mats
Our travel mats are made from polyester fiber with a non-slip backing. At 20.9 × 20.9 inches and 2 mm thick, they offer a compact playing surface that’s easy to pack, with a storage sleeve included. They arrive folded; lay yours flat and give it time to settle before playing.
From Original Artwork to Your Table
Our mahjong mats are designed and printed in the USA, and each is printed to order. We use dye-sublimation printing to reproduce the colors, patterns, and details that make each design its own.
Some designs begin in-house. Others come to life with independent artists through our Artist Collective. Across both, we bring the same care to turning artwork into something you can gather around and enjoy.
Small variations in color, placement, or size can happen between production runs. That’s a normal part of the printing process. If something about your mat doesn’t seem right, please get in touch so we can take a look.

A Little Care Between Games
Wipe your mahjong mat with a soft cloth dampened with water. Avoid machine washing, abrasive scrubbers, harsh chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners, and prolonged sun exposure.
